What we collect
Reading this site requires no account. We collect anonymous usage statistics as described below and nothing else.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookie-free and records page views and referrers in aggregate, and Google Analytics 4, which sets first-party cookies to distinguish returning visitors. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4. You can block it with any standard content blocker, and the site works identically without it.
Correction form
If you send a correction, we store the message and, if you provide one, your email address, only so we can reply. We do not share it and we do not add you to any list.
Email lists
When newsletters launch they will use double opt-in and every message will carry an unsubscribe link.
Maps
Map tiles are loaded from OpenTopoMap when you scroll to a map. Your browser sends its IP address to that server as part of the request, as with any image.
